BOARDS OUT OF MY MIND

Storyboards for class i've been working on. I think they're coming out really good. There are some panels missing, so the story probably won't make the most sense, but I think you should be able to get the idea.

2nd half will be in the next post.

Here are some concept designs I did for one of my classes. They are layouts for a background I will eventually use in storyboarding a short scene with characters in the post below.

I was going for; when technology and the enviroment fuse together (Technorganic). I am pretty happy with the drawings and compositions, but I didn't really acheive the look i was... well looking for. I was going for more of a Samurai Jack feel, (pictures at the bottom of the post). You can see some of the stuff I tried to incorporate into my own work.






Here are the Jack refrences I was looking at, among others. This show is awesome, best art direction for a TV show ever.

I'VE BEEN MODELING

Here are some model sheets I did for my Character Design and Animation Layout class.
I'm pretty happy with how they came out, I re-did the turn arounds 3 times each, I couldn't get them to a point where I liked them.
I think the action poses came out better, I did those after the turn-arounds, and I think just drawing them over and over, I started to change them slightly and they came out more natural.
The top guy is Forest, I think you'll notice a big difference from the other Forests i posted a few months ago.

This is Tree-Ella. I like drawing her, especially cause of the long neck, its like getting to use 2 "lines of action" which is fun to experiment with.

BASIKNOWLEDGE T-SHIRT DESIGN

This is a t-shirt design me and a friend made for another friend of a mine, a poet who goes by the name Basiknowledge. He's a super talented poet, he was just on Russel Simons Presents Def Poetry, and preceded a poem by George Clinton.

We designed this t-shirt for a premeier party he was hosting. I think it came out great, apparantly it was a big hit.

PONCHO PANELS

Here are boards I did a short I'm working on, for class but also for myself and my portfolio. It's with a character I've been developing for a long time now (6 years). His name is Poncho. I was trying to get really cinematic with the short, and animate from angles you don't normally see. These are not all of them, and some are missing in between.

Any comments, advice, criticism?

Old Flash Stuff

These are some older characters I drew in flash. I'm not sure I really like them anymore, I think there are just a lot of things I would do differently now. I like some of the concepts I came up with for characters though.

BUSY writing

I've been real busy lately writing, spec scripts and original stuff. I don't know how many people are actually checking out this blog, but if there are enough people I'll try to get some more artowrk up soon.

Ham and Flopper

Here's an updated Flam and Hopper and Samson drawing. I think I might try some textures in the ground.

I tried doing a couple with marker.
I don't like them, i really like the feel of the color pencil. Plus, the pink marker is way too...pink. Same with the grey's, they just don't look good on Flam.

Rewind Those Boards

These are some Rewind boards I did. I think some of the shots are cool, I wish I would have chosen to storyboard him doing something that I could show a bit more expression, I'll do something like that next.





On the page below, the one in the upper left, that's my favorite shot, I like the layout a lot.


Looking at them like thise I realize I pretty much gave Rewind the same expression in every board, that's really boring
