Some Wilts... Is that ok? I'm sorry.

A few Wilt's I've done. I've had a crazy week, and another ahead, so not too much time to draw. I'm moving out to Burbank on thursday. I've got an internship this summer out there.

I'm also doing some freelance work for an independant animated feature, so it's gonna be a lot of work, but this is what I want to do the rest of my life and I can't wait to get started.

Wilt was pretty fun to draw, a little tricky at first, but once you get the porportions down, he's pretty simple. It's crazy how small his body is compared to head, I never really noticed until I drew him.

Coco.... Co Coco

Some Coco's I did.
I wasn't really having fun drawing her so i stopped. She was pretty easy to draw actually, easier than I thought she would have been, except for the hair/tree-top, a bit tricky.



During class I did some Foster's doodles. I didn't have any references, so I was pretty happy with how they came out, seems like i'm retaining the characters pretty well.

BIG MAC

Some Macs. He's the hardest to draw so far. I can't figure out his face, where things are supposed to go.

And I ran out of COL-ERASE blue pencils, and had to use a darker pencil (and a lighter blue), which I hate, you can't get crisp lines with it.

INSPIR(ED)

Some Eduardo's I did. Why the others came out that weird color, I have no idea. But, whatever.
He's tricky to draw. They do a lot of the line work in flash/illustrator, and get effects you can't really acheive with pencil and paper.

Guess Bloo?

Some studies I did of Bloo.

One of the pages are original pose and expressions, I think its pretty obvious which one, but hoepfully not.

I switched to blue pencil after the first sheet... for obvious reasons. I like blue pencil more every time I use it, its a lot cleaner than graphite.

FLAM AND HOPPER (FORGOT ONE)

Just realized I had an older pic I never posted. I wouldn't really make a big deal to post it, except I love the top pose, where Flam frames Hopper. That pretty much sums up what I was trying to do with these characters. Fit them together in unique ways, and explore expressions.

I tried to take John K's approach in never drawing the same expression twice.

BOARDS OUT OF MY MIND

Storyboards for class i've been working on. I think they're coming out really good. There are some panels missing, so the story probably won't make the most sense, but I think you should be able to get the idea.

2nd half will be in the next post.

Here are some concept designs I did for one of my classes. They are layouts for a background I will eventually use in storyboarding a short scene with characters in the post below.

I was going for; when technology and the enviroment fuse together (Technorganic). I am pretty happy with the drawings and compositions, but I didn't really acheive the look i was... well looking for. I was going for more of a Samurai Jack feel, (pictures at the bottom of the post). You can see some of the stuff I tried to incorporate into my own work.






Here are the Jack refrences I was looking at, among others. This show is awesome, best art direction for a TV show ever.

I'VE BEEN MODELING

Here are some model sheets I did for my Character Design and Animation Layout class.
I'm pretty happy with how they came out, I re-did the turn arounds 3 times each, I couldn't get them to a point where I liked them.
I think the action poses came out better, I did those after the turn-arounds, and I think just drawing them over and over, I started to change them slightly and they came out more natural.
The top guy is Forest, I think you'll notice a big difference from the other Forests i posted a few months ago.

This is Tree-Ella. I like drawing her, especially cause of the long neck, its like getting to use 2 "lines of action" which is fun to experiment with.

BASIKNOWLEDGE T-SHIRT DESIGN

This is a t-shirt design me and a friend made for another friend of a mine, a poet who goes by the name Basiknowledge. He's a super talented poet, he was just on Russel Simons Presents Def Poetry, and preceded a poem by George Clinton.

We designed this t-shirt for a premeier party he was hosting. I think it came out great, apparantly it was a big hit.
